http://www.tcunation.com/profiles/blogs/an-open-letter-to-senatorSenator McConnell,
Though I am not one of your constituents, I write to you in your capacity as Minority Leader of the Senate. I want to thank you for your service, and for the wonderful way in which you represent our Party, and the conservative principles which I and millions of other Americans honor and promote through our daily lives. I know that the past few weeks and months have been especially troublesome and exhausting for you, and I want to inform you that there are still those of us watching and listening who understand, agree with, and appreciate the tireless and critical work you are doing.
I write to specifically encourage you to speak with the Minority representation in the Senate, and remind them that we, their true constituents, stand behind them and will support their expression of conservative responsibility in opposition to the Democrats’ socially subversive and fiscally irresponsible “Stimulus Package.” We (conservative Americans, and Republicans) could not have been more proud of our Representatives in the House last week when, even in the face of certain defeat, they stood together, strong in opposition, and unwavering in their commitment to do what is right. They represented us honestly and truly, and did not waver in the slightest when others might have shown complicit acceptance in light of probable defeat.
It is imperative for the future of this Society, and more importantly, our great Country, that our Republican Senators show the same fortitude, dedication, and responsibility that our Congressmen did last week. Please encourage ALL Minority Senators to stand together, speak for their people, and speak with the same unified voice which we send to Washington:
“No to the stimulus package.” That is the clear message Conservative America is sending. And while concession might bring consideration in the face of possible defeat, the purpose of our Republic and the desire of our Party is to stand firm on our beliefs, bear the burdens of our mistakes, but also reap the rewards for our sacrifice.
On a more personal note (though one I know I share with my conservative brothers and sisters), I want my country back, and I am willing to do whatever I can to help my Representatives achieve that goal.
Senator McConnell, I thank you again for your service. If there is any way I can return your efforts on my behalf, that is a debt I will gladly repay. There are difficult days ahead as this Resolution moves through the Senate. Know that it is not only the people of Kentucky who stand firmly behind you, but the whole of Conservative America, and the Republican Party. We are fortunate to have you leading the battle for us, and we stand united with you and our other Representatives in clinging to what is right, and not what is easiest.
With most sincere respect and gratitude,
David Woodall
